I’ve lived in Croydon for 20 years and know the real potential that it has to be an amazing place to live and work. I’ve seen first-hand the passion of the South Norwood community through working on our campaign to fight the terrible Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.
From 2002 to May 2018 each parliamentary constituency in Croydon was made up of exactly eight wards, all fully contained within it. Shortly after taking control in 2014 Croydon Labour requested a review of the local authority boundaries.
I had the misfortune to sit through the last Traffic Management Advisory Committee where the very controversial LTNs were discussed. Councillors asked searching questions which were swiftly dismissed, dissenting voices were brushed aside, only this discredited administration knows best.
Cllr Tim Pollard and I walked the streets around Selhurst Park on Saturday and unfortunately found at least 6 to 8 incidents of fly tipping on the pavements. All of them were duly reported and we hope the Council has cleared them up by today.
A welcome trend in recent years is the increase in fairs and carnivals. South Norwood in particular is no exception. Recently, along with many thousands of others, I attended the South Norwood Festival in the park.
A date for your diaries, Sunday 7th of July, in the Park. A dedicated band of local people and businesses are cracking on and organising this event which goes from strength to strength. I am very pleased to support them.
