It was great to see happy local parents and children welcoming the two new playgrounds to Croydon which I opened this week.
The Purley Way Playing Fields playground, near Croydon airport, has been given an aeroplane theme. And Selsdon Rec's new playground will be wonderful to play in against the amazing views of Selsdon Woods
The designs for the playgrounds have been planned in consultation with local groups like the Croydon Youth Disability Project based at Waddon Youth Centre.
The project is part of the Council's Playground Investment Programme funded from capital and S106 funding, showing that we can still invest in our green spaces despite the financial pressures.
But we're not stopping there - we intend to replace all equipment across the borough which is outdated or in a poor state. We will shortly be announcing the next phase for this year - so watch this space!
