Shadow Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Resilience

Andy Stranack has been active in the Forestdale and Selsdon area for twenty years and has helped set up the Ment4 charity that provides mentoring services to young people at risk of being involved in the criminal justice system. Over the last 20 years he has lived on Littleheath Road, Woodpecker Mount, Markfield and Newlands Wood. He currently manages the Selsdon Contact Charity providing neighbourhood services to elderly and vulnerable people living in and around the Selsdon and Forestdale area.

Last night I had the opportunity to speak at the Council meeting and raise the important issue of supporting the voluntary sector and other support agencies, departments and charities that are so precious to the most vulnerable and poorest residents in the Borough.

Cllr. Andy Stranack (Shadow Cabinet Member for Safer Croydon and Communities) recently met up with Pastor Bola Thomas from His Grace Evangelical Outreach to learn about the community work her Church undertakes. The Church group runs a food bank from their building in Beulah Road, Thornton Heath. The Foobank has been open for five years and opens three days a week, it currently serves 250 people in the local community.
