We’ve had to put up with a lot of roadworks in our area in recent months. It often feels that we can’t get anywhere by car without having to sit at some temporary traffic lights at the moment. There have been particular concerns about the gas works on Downsway which have been going on for some time despite it not looking like much is going on. At one point there was a barrier across the road which meant that once in the road it was necessary to reverse back into Purley Oaks Road or try (more than a) three point turn to go up to Purley Downs Road. I did report this at the time and the Highways department said that they would address this. I have been advised that the Downsway work is due to be completed on 29 June 2022.
I have also asked that any random a-frame signs that have been left in other roads be removed e.g. the diversion sign on the corner of Shaw Crescent and Glebe Hyrst should have been removed well over a month ago.
If you spot any signs that should have been removed, do let me know at helen.redfern@croydon.gov.uk. A photo also helps too!
