Shadow Cabinet Member for Clean Green Croydon

Helen Redfern has lived in Croydon since 2004 and quickly became involved in local activities such as delivering Meals on Wheels and acting as a Street Champion. She attends meetings of the Purley Oaks and Riddlesdown Police Ward Panels and attended the predecessor panels in Sanderstead and Purley. Helen works with a number of residents associations including those in Riddlesdown, Purley & Woodcote and Montpelier & KIngsdown Road where she hears and and acts on residents concerns. Helen attends St Mary’s Church, Purley Oaks and has served on the District Church Council. She provides perinatal courses to expectant and new parents and has provided training lectures to midwives at Croydon University Hospital. Helen is married with 2 children who attend local schools. They are active in Croydon sports clubs and enjoy walking on Riddlesdown Common.

Improvements to Purley Oaks Station

I have been advised by Southern Rail that they will be commencing improvements to Purley Oaks station over the next few weeks that will include new seating, permanent signage to replacement buses (let's hope they are not needed too often) and the addition of new landscaping/planters.

Garden Waste Collections Reinstated

The Council has announced this lunch time that the garden waste service has been reinstated. 

Those whose bins have not yet been emptied should continue to leave them out for collection which will hopefully be in the next few days.

Road Closure: Christchurch Road/Brighton Road

Christchurch Road is currently closed to allow SES Water to fix a number of water leaks. This is the section of Christchurch Road between Brighton Road and Whytecliffe Road North.

Access to and from Brighton Road is now via Purley Park Road.

Croydon Council has today sneaked out news that the garden waste collection has been suspended.

Residents should still leave their garden waste bin out for the waste to be collected but there is no indication of when the bins will be emptied.

New 403 and 412 Bus Diversions

This weekend, and during the seasonal break, there will be times when part of Selsdon Road and Sussex Road will be closed to all traffic, including buses and pedestrians.

Advance Notice of Sussex Road Closure

Selsdon Road remains closed, between its junctions with Chelsham Road and Sussex Road southside, until 15th January. This is to facilitate bridge replacement and enabling works.
