Do you want to have your say on community safety concerns? Then come along to the next meeting of the Kenley Ward Panel on Tuesday 25th October, 18.30 at Kenley Memorial Hall.

A Ward Panel brings the police, community, local businesses, residents and councillors together to discuss issues of community safety. This is a great way to discuss and feed in any concerns or ideas you have about community safety. At a Ward Panel meeting, residents are encouraged to engage with their local policing team, discuss local crime and disorder concerns and ultimately inform the priorities of their local Safer Neighbourhood teams (SNT).

An SNT is aligned to each ward, and has one dedicated sergeant, PC and PCSO (Police Community Support Officer). In addition, there are also a number of neighbourhood officers that work across several wards (usually across five specific wards in Croydon) and can be used to tackle issues across the local ward boundaries within their area. This change to the way local neighbourhoods officers work came about in 2013 in order to give officers more flexibility in deploying resources across local ward boundaries, without losing the focus on dealing with local issues identified by the community. The difference between these officers and other borough police officers is that the community, not the Metropolitan Police set their priorities.

Check out the Kenley SNT website and see the top reported crimes for September 2022 at https://www.met.police.uk/a/your-area/met/croydon/kenley/. For more information about the Ward Panel, or to join it, please contact [email protected].

Hope to see you there!
