UPDATE 24 March 2023: The flood works have been done and the resurfacing is now programmed to take place on the 29th March 2023 at night
I wanted to let you know that between 13th March and 26th March, Hayes Lane at the junction with the Godstone Road will close for essential maintenance works.
The works are for an urgent replacement of the collapsed/damaged highway drainage carrier pipe and resurfacing of the carriageway. The drainage works are being carried out to alleviate the frequent flooding on Hayes Lane at the junction with Godstone Road.
The works are programmed to be carried out between 13th March to 26th March 2023 and would be completed in 2 phases i.e.
- 13th March to 23rd March – urgent drainage remedial works
- 24th March to 26th March – Carriageway resurfacing/gully cleansing.
To facilitate the works safely and quickly, the following road closures will be put in place and a diversion route sign posted:
- Drainage remedial works – Hayes Lane closed between Godstone Road and Station Road (access to Station Road is maintained)
- Carriageway resurfacing – Hayes Lane closed between Godstone Road and Kenley Lane (no access to Station Road).
Advance driver / resident information boards will be in place prior to the works commencing, advising of the precise dates and times of the Traffic Management.
Note that unforeseen circumstances (e.g. inclement weather conditions) may necessitate changes to the scheduled dates. Information on the road signs will be changed accordingly. Please check the road signs regularly for any updates.
Due to the nature of these works it is inevitable that some disruption will occur. Therefore, it is recommended that where possible alternative routes should be used and/or extra time should be allowed to complete your journey. Your cooperation is required to ensure that these works are completed as quickly as possible.
Should you have any queries regarding this matter or want more information about the proposed works, please contact highwaysmaintenance@croydon.gov.uk or call 020 8726 6000 and ask for the highways drainage team.
If your vehicle is relocated, please contact the Trace support system on 0300 0770100 for details of the exact location of your vehicle.
Beware Bogus Callers
Croydon Council does not permit its employees or contractors to undertake work on private property during the course of any scheme. If anyone offers such work they will not be a council approved contractor and should be treated with caution. Any scheme undertaken by a council approved contractor does not require cash payments.
Cold calling doorstep traders offering to carry out home maintenance work such as driveway repairs and roofing are a problem in Croydon. These traders can be very persuasive and can intimidate you into agreeing to have work undertaken. The advice from Croydon Trading Standards Service is to say “NO” to all cold calling traders – Every Time. If they will not leave or you get into difficulties, then call Croydon Trading Standards on 020 8407 1311.
