Today I had a meeting with officers and my deputy for customer service, Cllr Lara Fish.
We discussed the current situation relating to our street trees in residential areas, the location of empty tree pits, and further promotion of the sponsor a tree program:

I have asked that we look into an effective way of surveying the location of empty tree pits across the borough, looking at how community groups and ward members can assist in this vital exercise.
We need to fully understand where the empty tree pits are located, so we are able to promote the sponsorship tree program in an effective manner.
I have asked that we have a follow up meeting to discuss progress made in the near future.
