Andy meeting Suzy from SNCA

Cllr. Andy Stranack (Shadow Cabinet Member for Safer Croydon and Communities) visited Trinity School last Saturday (Dec, 12th) to meet up with volunteers from Shirley Neighbourhood Care Association (SNCA) who were packing Christmas goody bags to deliver to 150 of their elderly and vulnerable clients across the local community.

Andy commented

"It was so good to join and thank the amazing volunteers who were packing bags to bring a little joy to some of our most vulnerable residents. It has been a really tough year for many of SNCA's clients with Covid 19 and social isolation. I am aware that our voluntary sector and particularly the Neighbourhood Care Network have kept people alive by providing regular telephone calls, getting shopping for residents and providing a few surprises like goody bags.

This Christmas project is a real community effort with local businesses providing many of the goodies, Trinity School providing the space to pack the bags and SNCA providing the volunteers to get the bags packed and delivered to front doors. I know that there are many other similar projects taking place across Croydon now and in the coming week.

Even in the midst of COVID the Christmas spirit of serving one another still shines through. I would like to thank the whole voluntary and faith sector for the amazing work they have done this year and I wish everyone a very Happy Christmas."
