Litter Pick

I have reported the problems with debris and refuse in Sanderstead Recreation Ground Car Park before but unfortunately, due to the present council's financial situation a decision was taken last year to scale back the grounds maintenance service which included litter clearance.  In the past the operatives were able to attend three times a week at every site of the 127 parks and open spaces and this now has been reduced to two weekly visits with only one visit guaranteed. The crews are working around the borough on this basis.

Officers also responded stating:

Rest reassure that If circumstances do change, we will endeavour to reduce the time between grass cuts as quickly as possible. As part of their task they will clean Sanderstead Recreation Car Park during every visit, please accept my apology if you find the service provided unsatisfactory. I will remind the cleansing operatives of their obligations and the extent of their duties.  Thank you for your understanding on the matter.

Sadly I don't believe that Sanderstead Recreation Ground Car Park is cleaned that frequently.  Debris and litter lies there for weeks.  The Friends and local councillors do what they can to keep the park clean.

WATCH: One Year in Office

Wednesday, 10 May, 2023

Today is the one year anniversary of my election as the first ever Executive Mayor of Croydon.

I will always be grateful for the support that Croydon's voters gave me in that election. I have never taken this support for granted.
