I logged onto Cabinet last evening and was subjected again to a lecture, apparently residents must understand what this administration tells us,  debate was stifled and challenge was not allowed.

We must become carbon neutral, while at the same time digging up every green space, we are told we need to reduce our carbon footprint, the irony of it seems completely lost on this discredited administration.

How dare  Cllr Ali refuse to answer Cllr Roche's perfectly reasonable questions, suggesting he had not read the report. He couldn't answer the questions and perhaps a little more modesty from a member of a cabinet that has bankrupted the borough that they are custodians of would not come amiss.

Cllr Ali and Cllr King before him refuse to accept the will of the people, LTNs are their idea and you will have them whether you like it not. Refusing to take into account that borough after borough in London have removed them realising that they are not the answer.

I have questions for Cllr Ali

"how is he going to mitigate the extra traffic that will be forced onto the main roads"

"how will he explain to the parents of the children who attend All Saint's School which is bordered by both South Norwood Hill and Church Road to where all the traffic will be displaced why they should suffer extra pollution"

"How will he manage the discussions with Bromley Council who have time and time again told him they will not negotiate away the well being of their residents, their streets being clogged from the overspill of this ill thought out policy"  Officers admitted that signs will need to be erected in Bromley streets to give notice to motorists entering the LTN, good luck with that

"How will he explain to parishoners of St John's Church who live on the periferie of the LTN that their church is now isolated"

We all recognise the need to tackle climate change, what we need is evolution not revolution, this Country has successfully negotiated it's way through enormous change in the past fifty years without too much disruption.  Politicians govern by consent not dictate.

Significantly this Council ignores the reality that LTNs primarily displace traffic from the roads of the most prosperous to the roads of the poor and disadvantaged, I thought Labour's mantra was "for the many not the few"
