Luke Shortland has lived in Croydon, moving between Coulsdon and Purley, for his entire life. He grew up attending a local Coulsdon nursery. One of the things Luke loves about Coulsdon is the real variety of shops in the town centre, with everything from a pottery café (where he got his first Saturday job over seven years ago!) to a candle shop. His main priority is to help Coulsdon be a town where local businesses can not only survive, but thrive. Luke also wants to make sure that new developments are appropriate and aesthetically pleasing - in stark contrast to the current Labour Council, who want to concrete over green spaces to build ugly-looking flats. Outside of work and politics, Luke is a bit of a foodie, and loves to travel. Luke’s also been learning German for the last few years, and residents are welcome to help him practise!
