The aftermarth of this Labour administration's incompetence continues it has been suggested that five libraries will have to close, Shirley being one of them. Of course there will be a consultation but if history is anything to go by, they will consult, residents will say no and the libraries will still be closed.
Libraries are of importance in all wards those wards with a younger demographic and like Shirley where we have a consderable older population, we are the ward of bungalows, of course not so many left now since Cllr Scott wrecked havoc on our streets.
The local library is a hub, especially the one in Shirley which is easily accessible and offers help to those who, shall I say, IT skills need brushing up. Especially since the Council seem intent on not understanding that not everyone has a computer.
we can only live in hope that when the Council close the library and I fear it will be when and not if the community will come together and find ways to continue this precious facility
