Warbank Crescent, New Addington - losing their Communal Area!

I visited the residents of Warbank Crescent yesterday afternoon who are having some of their communal area taken to turn into a bin area and parking spaces for 3 cars. This will be used for the new flats that have been built behind them (I have to say they look like containers on a ship yard).

This piece of land is where the flats that are not on the lower floor hang their laundry (as apparently stated in their tenancy contract) and where the children play.

The residents are saying that they have never received any communication saying that this piece of land was being built on, the first they knew was when somebody turned up to put fencing up earlier in the week.

I’ve asked them all to email me their objections as well as objections from neighbours in Valentyne Close. Once I have all of the details I will write to the planning department and take this up on their behalf.

I am proud to have called New Addington my home for the last 15 years. My husband has been here for 40 and his family since the new estate was built. I love the sense of community here. This is our own little town and I’m really proud of it.

WATCH: One Year in Office

Wednesday, 10 May, 2023

Today is the one year anniversary of my election as the first ever Executive Mayor of Croydon.

I will always be grateful for the support that Croydon's voters gave me in that election. I have never taken this support for granted.
