Chris in Parliament

I recently joined Priti Patel in unveiling our new plans to tackle people smuggling and protect our borders. In my role as Immigration Minister, the Home Secretary and I have been working on this for these plans for the last year. It will be the biggest shake up of borders and asylum for a long time – designed to prevent illegal immigration and end widespread abuse of the legal system, while making sure those in genuine need are looked after.

Our New Plan for Immigration is based on 3 key aims; support those in genuine need via safe and legal routes, break the life-threatening business of criminal people smugglers, and make it easier to remove illegal arrivals with no right to be here. You can read the New Plan for Immigration here
