A large crowd at the AWSL Allotments Community

At the end of August, I spent some time with the Addiscombe, Woodside & Shirley Leisure Gardens (AWSL) allotments community, chaired by Jen Tapping.

Sunday's Annual Vegetable, Fruit and Flower Show was impressive, and Monday's 100-year celebration  was inspiration to all - with a delicious BBQ and the unveiling of a wonderful mural showing 28 butterfly species that have been seen in the managed wildflower garden. We also listened to a short talk by Simon Saville, Chair of the Surrey & SW London Branch of Butterfly Conservation.

I hope the next 100 years are just as great for this fabulous allotments community!
