I have lived in Kenley for the past nine years with my teenage son, Joe. I believe that Kenley is a beautiful and special place – I know it well as I regularly walk the family dog around Kenley’s green spaces and feel proud to live here. Like many of the people I speak to in Kenley, I am concerned about inappropriate planning and developments, with their resulting strain on the local infrastructure.

In my job, I am Head of Marketing for a geodata company. I work closely with councils across the country to help them make better use of location data.  If elected, I hope to make a positive change and support the local community, to ensure that Kenley’s green spaces and unique character is protected.

Next SW Croydon Community Partnership meeting Thu 9/5 6pm

This partnership exists (and is supported by the Council) to encourage local groups to work together to support the more vulnerable members of the community. They meet roughly quarterly and the next meeting is THIS THURSDAY 9/5 6-8pm at the Old Lodge Lane Baptist church. A flyer is attached..

Connecting Kenley signage

Eagle-eyed residents will have spotted new signposts and gateway markers popping up around Kenley over the past few weeks and may have wondered why these have been put up. They are part of the Connecting Kenley project which I’ve outlined in several other posts.

Rising groundwater from the Bourne

Croydon Council has alerted Kenley Ward councillors, Mayor Perry and the Cabinet Member for Streets and Environment that the Environment Agency has issued a flood alert concerning rising ground water levels along the Caterham valley which states: “Groundwater levels in East Surrey and South London

Improvements to Old Lodge Lane

Works have been completed to rectify drainage on the wooded part of Old Lodge Lane. This stretch had become impassable by pedestrians and concerning for vehicle drivers. These were completed on 22nd February and I’ve been pleased to receive reports that heavy rain no longer collects.

Good news on Wattendon Road appeal

We received welcome news from the Planning Inspector earlier this week. The appeal against the refusal of planning permission for 15 & R/O 17 Wattendon Road was dismissed.
