I am delighted to share with you Croydon Council has built a new playground and has restored the viewing platforms in Waddon Ponds.
I was delighted to open Waddon Ponds playground with Mayor Jason Perry, which was refurbished just in time for the school half term. It was designed with residents, using section 106 money from developers and it looks fantastic. Mayor Perry and I also reopened the furnished viewing platforms, which were closed for five years after falling into severe disrepair.
I was delighted to see the restoration of both platforms following my successful petition.
This fantastic investment into Waddon follows recent green space success stories in all of our local parks.
Purley Way Playing Fields
- The new playground is now opened.
- A new soil boundary has been built at the entrance to deter incursions by travellers.
- The fly-tip by Costco has been removed, vastly improving the look of the local area.
Wandle Park
- I recently went on a very well attended walk about with Mayor Perry. It was fantastic to see so many engaged neighbours who are passionate about our local park.
- The grass cutting has returned to a 4-6 schedule.
- The park has retained it’s green flag status and Croydon’s flagship park.
- New play equipment will be installed
Duppas Hill Recreation Ground
- The playground will be on the next list to be refurbished.
- Inconsistencies in grass cutting have now been resolved.
- I have reported the broken bench at the northern side of the park.
