I enjoyed spending a couple of hours with Woodside Road, Copse Hill and Manor Wood Road residents on Saturday who put on a street party on Woodside Road as part of the VE Day weekend, where roads in Croydon had the opportunity to apply to have their road closed to celebrate VE Day, friendship and community with their neighbours.
It was lovely to welcome the Civic Mayor to Purley and we enjoyed lots of delicious treats from homemade cakes to Indian chai and pakoras. It was also a good opportunity to discuss local issues, including the recent planning applications at 15 Copse Hill and 93 Woodcote Valley Road which I am strongly opposed to. There was also a bouncy castle and facepainting for the kids.
My thanks go to local resident Emily for putting on such a fab afternoon!
Residents across the Borough have the opportunity to host street parties for the Big Lunch Weekend on Saturday 7th or Sunday 8th June. Details on how to apply can be found here.
If you are hosting a street party next month in Purley & Woodcote, please do let me know at [email protected] and I will try my best to swing by!
