Open Morning for Autistic Young Children & Carers

Monday 24th November 10:30am – 12:30pm

At The Story Sanctuary
Sanderstead library building, Farm Fields, South Croydon, CR2 0HL

Open morning for parent/carers and autistic young people (age 9-14) who are finding school stressful, struggling to attend, non-attending, EOTAS

Croydon Mencap and A Collective invite you and your child/young person (if they are not in school) to an open morning to listen to your views about the support that they would like to see. Refreshments will be provided.

A Collective (an autistic-led creative non-profit) are leading a pilot programme of creative wellbeing workshops for anxious, sensitive and/or autistic young people who are not happy at school, and we want to ensure they are well-designed, accessible and feel right for our community.

Parent/carers are invited to share their worries and challenges with Jill and Yolanda from our senior team, who are themselves parents of autistic young people, supported by Emily from Croydon Mencap and Croydon Council’s Creative Health team.

Young people are welcome to come and meet our autistic creative facilitators – Skye, Uma and Leo – who run the weekly sessions, and optionally take part in creative activities – drawing, zine and cartoon making, and collage.

You can drop-in if/when suits you, no need to register, but registering will help us plan! To let us know you are coming, please email [email protected]

Please note: these sessions are aimed at young people who are autistic but not learning disabled, who may or may not have a diagnosis or an EHCP, and are mostly likely to be on roll at a mainstream school.
