The decision has been taken to withdraw the Experimental Order 2023 relating to St Peter’s Healthy School Street effective from July 24th 2024 and not to proceed to make it permanent.

The restrictions affected Rockhampton rd, part of Normanton rd and Whitmead Close. There were a significant number of objections about the adverse traffic impact in the area, increased congestion, inconsiderate and illegal parking.

St Peter’s School had concerns with the operation of the scheme particularly just outside the restricted

zone stating that safety had worsened for pupils and parents

Mayor Perry has listened to the objections from residents and the school during the consultation process and has decided the scheme will not be made permanent and has been withdrawn
