The Co-op at Kenley

We know that residents are concerned about shoplifting at the Kenley Co-op. As local councillors we share your concerns and have visited the shop several times to support them with this ongoing issue.

We’ve raised this with police officers who are working with the store to collate CCTV footage to support with identification and prosecution of the repeat offenders. The Safer Neighbourhood policing team also regularly visits the shop to provide support and advice

The staff at the store have noted a slight dip in shoplifting incidents and felt reassured with the recent efforts from the local police to tackle this issue but we are aware the process can be lengthy and could appear that nothing has been done to address what is a growing concern in Kenley and across London. We wanted to provide some reassurance that this is being actively investigated.

Our local MP Chris Philp has been very supportive, both in his role has our MP and in his previous role in Government and together we will continue to raise this issue and work with the police.

As this is a live investigation, we are unable to say anything more at this time.
