Fingers crossed for this upcoming working party, last year we had to cancel as the weather was too hot, but we can’t afford that this year, there is so much to do, despite the splendid effort last month, the foliage has taken full advantage of the rain and sunshine.
The narrow path up from Purley Oaks Road to our Green Room needs attention, the laurel hedging needs cutting, battery powered hedge cutters would be very useful if you have one. More ash trees have decided to start to lean over the main path to the green and will need to be cut and removed. There is still plenty of work for our two brush cutters and I am very pleased that more volunteers have become enthusiastic operators, having been shown how to safely use them. Hopefully there will be enough volunteers so we can safely tackle all these jobs.
Hi Viz vests should always be worn over tough clothing, shoes/boots and thornproof gloves. Please be extra careful when using sharp edge tools and keep a safe distance from fellow workers. Hard hats must be worn when assisting in any tree work.
Our elevenses are a really important and enjoyable part of the morning, so bring your favourite beverage. Genuine Tunnock biscuits are back in stock even for those who arrive just in time for the break. Do come and help, we really do need you.
