Sanderstead Rec
Sanderstead Rec

I spotted work having been started in Sanderstead Rec on Tuesday evening as I drove by - but as it was too dark to see what was happening.

Yvette got on the case straight away to find out what was going on. We were particularly concerned that this would impact on the Sanderstead Community Day planned for 27 September.

Officers have advised that work is taking place to construct a more stable path between the playground next to Limpsfield Road and the car park off Village Way. We were advised that they would take into consideration that we needed the park to be safe for 27 September.

The plan is to split the project into three stages:

  • Resurface from car park to nursery (in purple on the image);
  • Widen the path from the nursery to the side changing rooms (in yellow);
  • Widen and tarmac from the side entrance to playground (in orange).

The orange section will be completed next week so as things stand it looks like the Community Day will not be disrupted!
