It was lovely to support the Big Lunch weekend across Purley & Woodcote this weekend, with excellent street parties on Cliff End, Graham Road and Church Hill (with St Mark's Church).
Sadly, the Woodside Road party had to be cancelled because of poor weather on Saturday, but I understand the organiser, Emily is rescheduling it for July and I look forward to popping by then!
The Big Lunch weekend is a brilliant way of bringing the community together, and this is certainly a highlight of my year as a councillor. It really does bring out the best of Purley & Woodcote and I'd certainly encourage more local streets to consider holding street parties next year.
In addition to sharing yummy treats and catching up with residents, it was a lovely opportunity to thank residents for putting their faith in me to serve for another four years and find out more about their concerns and priorities. It was also great to welcome the new Deputy Civic Mayor, Cllr Scott Roche to the Graham Road party.
It was also super fun to meet Woodcote resident, Timmy the Tortoise!
A huge thanks to organisers, Paul (Cliff End), Josh (Graham Road) and Revd Fiona (Church Hill) for a lovely day, which was enjoyed by so many.
