Kenley residents contacted me and Cllr Simon Brew to raise concerns about the southbound bus stop on Godstone Road, by St James Road, where heavily overgrown vegetation was making it difficult and unsafe to get on and off the bus. The overgrowth had significantly narrowed the pavement, making access particularly challenging for anyone with mobility issues, pushchairs or shopping.
As this section of Godstone Road falls just outside Kenley, in Purley and Woodcote ward, I worked with Purley and Woodcote Councillor Simon Brew and our London Assembly Member, Neil Garratt AM, to ask TfL to contact the landowner and request that the vegetation be cut back.
I'm pleased to say that the work has now been completed, and what a difference it has made. The pavement is now much more accessible for pedestrians and bus passengers, while the improved visibility also benefits motorists turning left out of St James Road.
