Road and Gulley Cleaning

Tuesday, 30 November, 2021

With local residents I've been fighting for flood alleviation measures for Asmar Close. They are scheduled to be implemented in the financial year 2022/23, subject to funding being made available by the Council. However, I am pleased a programme of works has commenced to deeply clean the drainage infrastructure in known flood hotspots around the Borough. The works involve man entry into soakaways to manually/fully remove silt/debris inside the chambers and weep holes and jet clean all connecting pipes between the soakaways and roadside gullies using a high pressure water jetting tanker.

The programme commenced in Sanderstead and will move into the Coulsdon area immediately after. Currently, the following roads in the Coulsdon area are scheduled to be attended. Other roads may be added if deemed necessary.

• Chipstead Valley Road
• Stoneyfield Road
• Marlpit Lane
• Coulsdon Road (partly)
• Asmar Close
• Byron Avenue
• Greenfield Link
• Petersfield Crescent
• Hillars Heath Road
• Deepfield Way (partly)

If there are any roads you feel should be reported and added to the list please do let me know.

Sanderstead Library - Tidy Up

I was pleased to join Heather Lindsay Chair of the SRA in tidying up the library garden.  We spent a couple of hours cutting the grass, cutting back the brambles and overgrown shrubs and sweeping the steps.
