Based at the Purley United Reform Church, the Purley Food Hub is entirely volunteer-run. The service provides free food parcels for individuals and families living in CR8 (Purley), CR2 (South Croydon), CR5 (Coulsdon) and CR0 4 (Waddon). People are referred by various agencies, including the Jobs Centre, Croydon Council, local Churches, schools and GP practices. Three meals a day for three days is provided.
Each month, a donation priority list is published, which I attach. For this month, please see below:
- Tinned meat (corned beef, chicken ham)
- Tinned meat meals (but not hot dogs)
- Coffee jars
- Drinking chocolate requiring only hot water
- Savoury spreads (fish and meat paste, peanut butter)
- Desserts (sponge puddings, jellies, Angel Delight)
- Rice pudding tins
- Vegetarian meals
- Pasta sauce jars
- Small bottles or bars of unisex shampoo
Donations can be dropped off at the Purley United Reform Church on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings between 9am and noon or at their in-store and roadside collection points here.
To have the list emailed direct to your inbox at the start of each month, please contact [email protected].
