Based at the Purley United Reform Church, the Purley Food Hub is entirely volunteer-run. The service provides free food parcels for individuals and families living in CR8 (Purley), CR2 (South Croydon), CR5 (Coulsdon) and CR0 4 (Waddon). People are referred by various agencies, including the Jobs Centre, Croydon Council, local Churches, schools and GP practices. Three meals a day for three days is provided.
Each month, a donation priority list is published, which I attach. For this month, there is a real shortage of stock so please see their list belowand make every effort to support them if you can:
- Small bottles of pasta sauce
- Tinned corned beef, chicken, ham
- Tins/snap pots of baked beans
- Toddler microwave meals (10 months and 12 months+)
- Small (500g) packets of sugar
- Tinned tomatoes
- Custard packets (only requiring hot water)
- Tinned rice pudding
- Small shampoo bottles
- Kitchen scourers
Donations can be dropped off at the Purley United Reform Church on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings between 9am and noon or at their in-store and roadside collection points here.
