2 Welcomes Road planning application

At last week's Planning Committee meeting, the Committee considered an application for 2 Welcomes Road to demolish the existing bungalow and outbuildings and erect a three-storey building containing 6 x 2-bedroom flats and 2 x 4- bedroom semi-detached houses - a total of 8 dwellings, with associated parking and landscaping.

After listening to the planning report, and representations against the application from Cllr Ola Kolade (who referred the application to the Planning Committee in the first place), and KENDRA's Planning Officer, the Committee deliberated on the application. The Labour Councillors voted to approve and the Conservative Councillors voted against, leaving Committee Chair, Cllr Michael Neal to use his casting vote to refuse permission.

It is good to see that Kenley's special character is being protected at long last.

Gayle and Ola work hard to ensure Kenley’s green spaces and unique character is protected.

They ensure the needs of residents are taken care of and the concerns of Kenley residents are heard; such as inappropriate planning applications, road safety & parking provisions.

WATCH: One Year in Office

Wednesday, 10 May, 2023

Today is the one year anniversary of my election as the first ever Executive Mayor of Croydon.

I will always be grateful for the support that Croydon's voters gave me in that election. I have never taken this support for granted.
