A new year resolution? "Re-open Purley Pool" of course!

It's been a very tough 2021 for the whole Borough, which I'm sure you don't need reminding went effectively bankrupt in August 2020 due to Labour's appalling mismanagement of its finances. This was determined by external auditors; It's not just the Conservatives saying this.

There are also still many questions outstanding over how Brick by Brick managed to spend £73M on refurbishing the Fairfield Halls, when it was supposed to cost about £30M; much of the scheduled work hasn't been completed or even started (such as double-glazing the main windows at the front).

And then there's the still-closed Purley leisure centre - the only one to remain closed when all the others (which by an amazing coincidence are all Labour-held wards) managed to re-open in the Summer. The Conservative mayoral candidate Jason Perry has committed that, if re-elected in the May 2022 elections, he will re-open the pool, and keep it open till new alternative facilities are developed nearby.

So my, and I hope your, New Year Resolution should surely be to Vote Conservative in May 2022, and make sure that the pool gets re-opened. Purley deserves nothing less.

Happy New Year!

Purley Leisure Centre is an essential facility for our borough. Families, schools, community groups and people of all ages use it to keep fit and healthy. It's an invaluable place to catch up with others and serves as a community hub - this is crucial for both physical and mental wellbeing.

REVEALED: The true scale of Croydon Labour’s toxic financial mismanagement

Tuesday, 22 November, 2022

Croydon Labour’s financial mismanagement has required the Council to issue a new Section 114 notice.
Official reports detail “mistakes” made in the previous Administration’s budgets – which Labour claimed were “balanced” – worth tens of millions of pounds.
