Purley Oaks Station New waiting room
Purley Oaks Station new wooden seating

I received photographs this morning of improvements taking place at Purley Oaks Station.

New wooden benches have been installed on both platforms where the requirement for more seating had been highlighted. The old steel bench seating has been reused further along the platform outside of the canopy.  The waiting room has also been re-modelled to allow more people to sit down out of the cold.  The somewhat dilapidated sofa has been removed and replaced with more bench seating.

These improvements are part of the Passenger Benefit Fund.  The fund is supporting a range of work across the network including waiting shelters, refurbished toilets, more seats, information screens, automatic doors, more cycle parking, refurbished waiting rooms, station planters and LED lighting.

Further information about the improvement programme can be seen at  https://www.southernrailway.com/improvingyourstations.
