Local Residents Explore Addiscombe Heritage Project

Excerpt about Addiscombe 2/2

Last year I worked with local residents to explore our local history connected to the East India Company Military Seminary which was located in Addiscombe.

I alluded to it in a recent article: https://brightblue.org.uk/avoiding-a-damaging-culture-war/

Now a group of local residents have an idea to develop a heritage project to understand this history, and to find positive opportunities to teach about it and provide more information.

Interestingly I saw reference our very own Addiscombe in the new book Empireland by The Times journalist Sathnam Sanghera. Wouldn't it be something if we discovered a present day link to Meer Hassan Ali and his book of 1812?

Looking forward to hearing the ideas of local residents.
