Mayor Jason Perry is working with Transport for London (TfL) are working in partnership to install 100+ new bus shelters across the borough, replacing those that were removed in 2021 under Croydon Labour.

The first shelters are already in place, with the rest due to be delivered before the end of March.

Under the agreement, TfL will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and regularly cleaning the shelters, ensuring there are no capital or ongoing costs for the Council.

With over 88,000 people using Croydon’s bus network each day, it is hoped that the new shelters will enhance the passenger experience and encourage more people to travel by bus.

Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, said:
"One of my key priorities when I became Executive Mayor was the return of the much-needed bus shelters for the residents of Croydon, removed under Croydon Labour. We have been working hard with TfL since we announced our partnership last year, and it’s now great to see the shelters going in.”

Carl Eddleston, TfL’s Director of Network Management and Resilience, added:
"These new bus shelters will provide much needed travel infrastructure to the residents of Croydon and we’re delighted to be installing these new shelters. London’s bus network plays a vital role in keeping the capital moving and we hope that these new shelters will encourage more local residents to use the network. We’ll continue to work with Croydon Council and all boroughs to improve our infrastructure and enable more people to choose sustainable forms of travel.”
