Shell Garage Sanderstead

I was so upset to hear about the violent incident that took place at the Shell garage on Wednesday night.

A man has since been arrested and remains in Police custody.

Responses to the news on social media really reflected how much loved the team at Shell are within Sanderstead - comments about how lovely, helpful the gentleman is and that he is the nicest man and the heart of Sanderstead.

I visited the garage earlier today to drop off a card on behalf of residents and my fellow councillors, wishing him a speedy recovery. I used some of the quotes that I had seen on social media so that he could see what lovely things people are saying about him.

I was reassured by staff that he is on the mend and hopefully we will see him again soon.

This has been a dreadful incident but it has also brought out a real desire within our community to reach out to show support.

Anyone with information that might assist police can call 101 quoting CAD 8934/29July.
