WCB, on behalf of SGN have advised us of upcoming gas mains replacement works taking place in Purley as part of their ongoing programme to upgrade and improve the local gas network.

Their works are planned as follows:

  • W/c 3 November 2025 – Cliff End
Works will begin in this dead-end road. Access will be restricted at times when large vehicles are on site, but residential access will always be maintained.
  • W/c 14 November 2025 – Selcroft Road
They''ll then move to Selcroft Road, starting from the junction of Downs Court Road and progressing towards Purley Hill.

A road closure will be in place in this section for approximately 3–4 weeks, with a signed diversion route provided.

WCB have begun notifying affected residents directly through both interruptible and non-interruptible letters, which include full contact details for their project team.

They have assured us that they will continue to provide regular updates — both to ward councillors, residents associations and nd via their website (updated bi-weekly) to ensure the local community remains informed throughout the works.

If residents have any concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
