Kenley Residents will be aware of recurring flooding on Park Road between Bakers Close and Hayes Lane which has impacted those living nearby and those travelling through the area.
We are pleased that Croydon Council, working with contractor FM Conway, will be carrying out essential flood alleviation works in this location starting on Monday 20th October 2025. Subject to any unforeseen circumstances, these works should be completed by Wednesday 5th November 2025,
What’s happening?
The essential road works which are designed to address the frequent flooding between Bakers Close & Hayes Lane, involves the following:
- Replacement/renewal of existing gully pots, upgrading/installing new gully and manhole covers, upgrading carrier/outfall pipes and extensive cleaning/jetting/camera survey of the existing drainage infrastructure
- Kerb adjustment, footway reprofiling and carriageway resurfacing/refresh road markings
How will this affect residents?
To ensure that the essential road works are completed safely and as quickly as possible, Park Road (between Oaks Way & Hayes Lane) will be closed to vehicular traffic. Access will be maintained for pedestrians, and arrangements put in place for emergency services and the bin collection vehicles.
Due to the nature of these works, it is inevitable that disruptions will occur. Residents who would normally park their vehicles on this section of Park Road are required to make alternative parking arrangements while residents who may be expecting delivery of large items during the road closure are expected to reschedule the delivery with the supplier. Whilst FM Conway will do all that is feasible to keep the disruptions down to a minimum, the cooperation of residents is required to ensure that the essential road works are completed safely and as quickly as possible.
Notification to residents and drivers
Advance driver and resident information boards will be put in place approx. 3 weeks prior to the works commencing, advising of the precise dates and times of the traffic management. If there are changes in the scheduled dates due to unforeseen reasons, the information on the road signs will be changed accordingly. Drivers and residents are advised to check the road signs regularly for any updates. A notification letter will be hand delivered to affected residents at the same time the advance warning signs are erected.
We recognise the inconvenience and distress the essential road works may cause to residents. If you have any questions about the works, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
