I'm pleased to hear that the application for 6 flats at 93 Woodcote Valley Road has been refused.
I strongly objected to this and I'm grateful to the 88 objectors who joined me, along with the Purley & Woodcote Residents Association and Chris Philp MP.
I am encouraged by the Council officers' robust report which refused the application on the grounds that the proposed development would:
- Be out of character with the existing street scene
- Have an adverse impact on trees (there is a Tree Preservation Order on this site) and biodversity
- Have a negative impact on the neighbouring property
- Lead to poor accessibility to parking and refuse
Additionally, insufficient information was provided on highways impact.
A copy of the refusal letter can be found here and the full officer report can be found here.
Preserving Purley & Woodcote's character is so important as it restores pride in our local area and my ward colleagues and I will continue to stand up for residents and against inappropriate development in our more suburban areas.
