New fencing on Hermitage Road

For several months, the fencing along Hermitage Road, bordering St Winnifreds, had become dilapidated and an eyesore for residents.  Kenley councillors have worked with A2Dominion, the landlord for St Winnifreds, to improve the state of fencing. The damaged panels have been repaired, and several new panels have been installed, enhancing the overall appearance of the area.

You might notice a gap at the bottom of one of the panels and wonder about its purpose. This gap is intentional, as the site is home to an active badger sett. To ensure the badgers can continue to roam freely, the East Surrey Badger Protection Society advised installing access holes at ground level. This measure balances the need for an improved streetscape with the protection of local wildlife.

The updated fencing represents a substantial improvement from its previous state, and I would like to thank A2Dominion for working with us to improve the Kenley street scene.

I attended the Sanderstead Recreation Ground Litter Pick with my ward colleague Cllr Helen Redfern.  We have seen a marked difference in the amount of litter dropped in the park which is good to note.
