MetEngage
The Metropolitan police have launched a new platform for how they communicate with the public and have asked partners such as the council to help spread awareness.
The aim is to help local community safety teams such as the Kenley Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) streamline communications with residents to address concerns that matter to them. Events and engagements will be broadcast from this platform and this will replace all of the ward level social media accounts such as Nextdoor and X.
You can sign up to the Platform at https://www.metengage.co.uk/. Once you log in, you can see details of our local police officers and how to contact them, as well as see what the policing issues are in Kenley
Please note that Met Engage is not for crime reporting. You can report crime by calling 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Crime in Kenley and staying vigilant
Community Safety priorities in Kenley are agreed between police and residents at a Ward Panel, open to any resident. For more information and to get involved, see an article we’ve previously published.
At the Ward Panel, the police present crime statistics, including the sorts of crime committed and rate of crime in each ward of Croydon. Reassuringly for Kenley residents, Kenley is the safest neighbourhood in Kenley, see below, but we need to stay vigilant.
We want to make residents aware of a concerning incident that took place in Kenley earlier this week, involving an attempted phone theft from a secondary school pupil on their way home.
The young person was approached on Park Road at the junction with Oaks Way by an individual who attempted to take their phone. Thankfully, the attempt was unsuccessful, and the pupil was not physically harmed, but understandably shaken by the experience. Quick thinking and support from a parent, passing drivers, and a member of the public helped bring the situation to an end. The police were contacted promptly and responded quickly.
While the investigation is ongoing, we’re sharing this message to encourage increased awareness and vigilance, particularly around school pick-up and drop-off times. The incident highlights the importance of young people being aware of their surroundings and avoiding distraction when walking, especially in quieter areas with limited visibility.
Parents and carers are encouraged to speak with their children about personal safety, and we also ask residents generally to look out for one another and report any suspicious behaviour to the police.
The young person involved is recovering well with family support, and we’re grateful to the police and members of the public who acted so quickly and supportively.
This message is not intended to alarm but to help prevent further incidents and to remind us all of the importance of community awareness and care for one another.
If you have concerns or information, you can contact police on 101, or 999 in an emergency. Local Safer Neighbourhood Teams and Neighbourhood Watch groups also welcome relevant reports and engagement.
The stats in the table above are supplied by Kenley's SNT and presented at the quarterly Ward Panel meeting.
