Yulefest cancelled

The incredible team behind Coulsdon Yulefest have recently shared an update. We’re very sorry to hear that it will be cancelled this year - even though the reasons are entirely understandable.

We’re nevertheless still happy to have been able to fund Coulsdon’s Christmas lights and look forward to the virtual switch on!

A huge thanks to the Yulefest Team - year in, year out they put in so much effort. They are incredible and we know they’ll be back bigger and better in 2021!

YuleFest 2020 Event Statement:

Since ‪March 23rd‬ the community has been hit with unprecedented times. We have all felt the strain of COVID-19 in one way or another, whether it be uncertainty over our jobs, our businesses or the unknown of when it might all be over.

Over this period of time, YuleFest preparations would have been in full swing, from gaining market stall applications to our charity partner ballot as well as finding the funds to put on this event for our community. YuleFest is funded by the good nature and support of our sponsors.

Coulsdon businesses have been hit just like the rest of the nation and since July we have seen the power and determination of these businesses to fight to save what they have built and offer to the community of Coulsdon and like the rest of the community, we are behind them.

We, therefore, have sadly taken the decision this year to not go ahead with YuleFest 2020.

This decision has not been taken lightly and those behind the festival have discussed at length on how we would be able to proceed.
Currently, there are no safety guidelines for events, numbers allowed to socialise have now been reduced and we also have the uncertainty on how to fund the event.
We have taken the decision not to ask any businesses this year to help financially support YuleFest in an effort to help our community of businesses continue in their efforts to sustain and regrow post-COVID-19 lockdown.

It’s not all lost. We have managed to still secure funding from our wonderful Coulsdon Town Councillors to put up the towns Festive Lights and we will do a virtual switch on at the beginning of December with information on this coming nearer the time. If there are any other virtual ideas you may have please put it forward to our team in the comments below or email info@yulefest.co.uk

We want to thank you all for the amazing support you have given us and the event over the last 8 years. It’s for you all that we put on the event and it’s for you all that we will strive to return.

It’s not goodbye and we aim to bring the event back in its fullest, stronger and revitalised for 2021.

Thank you all

Croydon council is bankrupt.  Since 2014, the local Labour Party has consistently failed to balance the books and make necessary savings.  As a result, a range of cuts will be unleashed on local services.
