Cllr Jason Perry, Leader of Croydon’s Conservative Councillors, is today announcing that he has asked Cllr Ola Kolade to join the Shadow Cabinet, with immediate effect as the Shadow Cabinet Member for Resources and Financial Governance.
He will be succeeding Cllr Simon Hoar who has chosen to step back at this time owing to increased work commitments and as he will not be re-standing as a councillor in the forthcoming May local elections.
First elected in 2021, Cllr Kolade has a great deal of governance experience as chair of a national charity, alongside a profession that delivers Corporate and Government funded programmes and contracts. Combined, these make him a valuable asset to a team committed to holding Croydon’s bankrupt, failing Labour Council to account.
Cllr Ola Kolade said:
“I am delighted to become the Shadow Cabinet Member for Resources & Financial Governance. I am looking forward to working with the team to ensure we have a Council that is more financially accountable and delivers value for residents across all services.
“With my governance experience as chair of a national charity, and professional life delivering Corporate and Government funded contracts, I know I’ll be able to scrutinise this failing Labour Council in the run up to the May local elections.”
Cllr Jason Perry said:
“I want to thank Simon for his service in the Shadow Cabinet. He has been a passionate voice scrutinising and holding Croydon’s terrible, bankrupt, failing Labour Council to account. I wish him well with his future endeavours.
“Ola has only been a councillor for a short time, but he has impressed many with his passion for his residents and ability to identify serious flaws with the current administration’s handling of Croydon’s affairs.
“His experience in governance, programmes and contracts make him an essential voice in the Shadow Cabinet.”
