Cllr Luke Shortland: Last night I attended the Coulsdon & Old Coulsdon Police Ward Panel. I find this to be a really useful meeting - it’s attended by police but also members of the public, representatives from RAs, local businesses and schools (and Councillors, who can contribute to the meeting but not vote).

We discussed what work the police have been doing both borough-wide and locally, as well as talking about what we think their priorities might be going forwards. For example, I asked for an update on “Operation Zoedone”, which took place a year ago in an effort to tackle a rise in after-school phone thefts (with Purley being a particular hotspot) - because I’m sure there will be a fair few schoolchildren who received shiny new phones for Christmas.
