I'm delighted to share the news that our new Coulsdon Banking Hub opened its doors this morning at 152 Brighton Road.
This follows my update in January that a lease had been signed and fitting out work had begun. It builds on my longstanding campaigning for this, alongside local residents, residents associations, local councillors Ian Parker, Luke Shortland, Mario Creatura, Margaret Bird and Nikhil Sherine Thampi, and Mayor Jason Perry.
With entry from Chipstead Valley Road, our new Hub is behind Park & Bailey estate agents and opposite Tesco Express (where there also remains a free to use ATM).
Customers of all major banks and building societies, whoever you bank with, can now drop in Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, for the vast majority of your banking needs. This is at a counter operated by the Post Office and includes:
- paying in cash and cheques
- withdrawing cash
- checking balances
- paying utility bills
- topping up gas and electricity
- accessing change-giving services (for small businesses)
In addition, five community banks – selected on their number of customers in the local area – are available on rotation, with a different bank available 9am to 5pm on each day of the week:
- Monday: (HSBC will be available on Mondays soon)
- Tuesday: Santander
- Wednesday: Barclays
- Thursday: Natwest
- Friday: (Lloyds available on Fridays from 9 May)
These community banks provide more complex services and face-to-face appointments, such as: payments and transfers, managing accounts, and how to use online banking.
All community bankers offer walk-in appointments, so you do not need an appointment. However, some banks may offer appointments during specific times of the day, so do check with your individual bank to see if you wish to see if an appointment is available.

Doors are open now as part of the Hub's 'soft launch', with final checks and permissions before their official opening in a couple of weeks. I'll be back in touch then.
