Earlier this month, council officers, together with the contractor Kompan, ran two engagement sessions for locals to hear about and see the plans for the refurbishment of Bourne Park.

Despite the weather, plenty of people (and dogs) passed by to review the plans and talk them through. On the whole, they have been received very positively. Some aspects of safety have also been picked up and are being progressed by councillors alongside the refurbishment project.

There’s a great array of play equipment, from sensory equipment to more challenging play for older children, such as the ‘Cliff Rider’ – the first to be installed in Croydon!
The refurbishment is set to be completed by the end off March 2026, ready for the spring and summer months. I’m looking forward to it!

It was good to also note that following requests from local councillors, the council has installed bollards to the entrances to the park at Bourne View and Bourne Park Close to prevent illegal incursions. These are similar to the ones installed at Higher Drive rec and Betts Mead.
