Noise & Pollution Enforcement

The Council’s emergency service covers the following:

  • any ongoing noise case where the pollution team has issued an informal or statutory notice
  • continuously sounding alarms
  • construction sites operating out-of-hours where the pollution team has issued a previous warning
  • serious health and safety issues involving injury or death and the premises are regulated by the council
  • food poisoning out breaks are other serious food incidents
  • a live rat trapped in a residential property
  • hazardous waste on private property
  • major chemical incidents
  • excessive smoke from bonfires affecting more than one person or affecting people with underlying health problems
  • water penetration from a neighbouring property causing significant damage
  • significant sewage incidents on private properties

It was a pleasure to join with Cllr. James J Walsh (Lewisham Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure) at City Hall to officially pass the baton from Lewisham  to Croydon becoming the new London Borough of Culture.
