 Our pledges for Coulsdon East

The people of Croydon returned a Conservative council in May 2010. In Coulsdon East we promised to:

Increase safety in the ward by, improving street lighting; supporting ‘Road Watch’ to monitor vehicle speed locally; increasing and upgrading road crossings; having more Police Officers in the Borough

Look after young people by: supporting a sixth form at the Oasis Academy; improving playgrounds and local parks

Make travel better by: long-term resurfacing of roads; seeking one hour free parking at the Tudor Rose; upgrading facilities at Coulsdon South Station; improving local bus services

Care for our residents by: continuing to keep Council Tax increases at a record low level; providing, at no extra cost to taxpayers, a new centre in Croydon for residents to access all public sector services in one place; improving the Ellis Road meeting room; ensuring community access to facilities at Coulsdon College & Oasis Academy; monitoring Coulsdon Town Centre & Cane Hill developments

Enhance the environment by: vigorously protecting the greenbelt; opposing ‘garden grabbing’; creating a local conservation forum; kerbside collection of kitchen waste

Cllr  Justin Cromie

Justin, 39, has lived in Coulsdon since 2006 after moving here with his wife and young daughter to start work as an Historical Film Consultant for BBC South East, a role which combined his two passions of history and vintage film. His wife's family have lived in Coulsdon since the 1930s, and Justin is proud to be standing as a candidate for the area in May. He is also the Road Safety Representative for the Coulsdon Neighbourhood Partnership. When not working or campaigning he enjoys educating his four year old daughter in the joys of watching silent comedy!

Cllr  Terry Lenton

Terry Lenton became a Councillor for Coulsdon East Ward in 2006 after retiring from Croydon Council where she worked for over 27 years. She and her husband have lived locally for 40 years; they have a son, a daughter and two lovely grandchildren. Terry is Chief Whip for the Conservative Group and also serves on Standards, Licensing and Scrutiny committees. She is a Governor of Woodcote High School and Vice Chair of Governors at Byron Primary School. These duties, along with the care of her disabled husband keep her very busy, but when there is any spare time she loves music, reading and being with her friends and family.
