Campaign to get more benches for Heathfield’s parks

Work with local residents to put together plans for a new Community Centre at Edgecoombe, then investigate all possible sources of funding for a re-build

Work with Quest Academy sponsor, Coloma Convent to ensure the success of the new school, which replaces Selsdon High in September

Ensure that Heathfield’s roads are well maintained

On completion of the major tunnelling project at Kent Gate Way, ensure the National Grid delivers the reinstatement of the green belt land as agreed with the Council

Explore all avenues to improve safety around the pinchpoint on Featherbed Lane

A little more about your local team

Cllr  Jason Cummings

Jason Cummings has lived in Heathfield ward for the last 14 years. Married to Rachel with two children attending the local state primary he has retired from twenty years working in general management and is now seeking to use his experience serving his local community full time. Already involved in many activities such as being a School Governor, Vice-Chair of the local Neighbourhood Partnership, working in a homeless shelter and assisting a lunch club for the elderly he believes that greater co-operation between the state and voluntary sectors can improve local community spirit and help heal our 'broken society.'

Cllr  Margaret Mead

Margaret was first elected for the ward of Heathfield in May 1990 she is married to Dudley, had two grown up children and two grandchildren and has lived in Croydon for 40 years. Between 1990 and 1994 she served on several committees and was vice chairman of parks. She was opposition member for social services until May 2006 when the newly elected administration invited her to be cabinet member for health and adult social care. In May 2009 she was elected Mayor of Croydon and her theme for the year has revolved around improving the lives of Croydon’s most vulnerable people and recognising the borough’s many volunteers who do so much to make a difference for those experiencing difficulties. She is a governor of Courtwood and Forestdale primary schools and a committee member of Forestdale Residents Association. She has been involved with many ward community events and issues of concern. Her personal interests include classical music, gardening and golf.

Cllr  Helen Pollard

Helen Pollard has been a Councillor since 2006 when she was elected to represent Heathfield. 20 years of business experience has equipped her to manage the various responsibilities of being a councillor which include responding to issues raised by local residents and contributing to policy development within the local Conservative party. Married, and with two children in state education Helen is a firm believer in the delivery of good quality public services but also believes that they should be run efficiently to ensure the council tax payer gets value for money. Helen’s interests include playing tennis, the arts, and spending time at home with her family.
