Car Pound Closing
21/10/2015 12:17:00......Posted by Sara Bashford

We have been made aware today that the car pound in Croydon will close and whilst many motorists will be happy that the Council are no longer removing vehicles there is a down side.

In the past if a car was blocking your drive illegally it could be removed, but from 31st October this will no longer happen as there is nowhere to take the car to. Therefore a parking ticket (PCN) will be issued. This may deter the driver from doing it again but won’t help you get to where you were heading.

Let’s hope people in Selsdon and Ballards continue to be good neighbours and considerate when parking.

Attended the AGM for The Friends of Selsdon Woods.  Amazing that volunteers have worked for 2000 hours in the last year.  Really appreciate the work they do to care for this beautiful green space.

Reporting problems to Croydon Council via the MyCroydon App
20/05/2018 20:31:00.......Posted by Robert Ward

I have recently been made aware that the MyCroydon App for reporting problems to Croydon Council is no longer functional.

Councillors have been informed that a new reporting app is being worked on and should be available over the next few weeks.

During the period before the improved app is launched any issues that would have been reported using the current MyCroydon app should be reported to the council via the council website, or for fly-tipping by clicking here.

In addition these issues can be reported via flytip@croydon.gov.uk, by phone on 020 8726 6000, or via the FixMyStreet or Love Clean Streets apps.

I will keep you informed as I receive more information.

St Francis Church
17/05/2018 20:53:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Had a meeting with the Minister of St Francis Church on Monks Hill.  Discussed his plans for a new church hall and also the need for more noticeboards for community notices.  Look forward to working wtih him to help make these things happen.

John Ruskin College
15/05/2018 20:52:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Attended a meeting of the Governing body of John Ruskin College.  These are difficult times for many sixth form colleges as the introduction of the apprenticeship levy has had the effect of reducing the number of people signing up for apprenticeships.  Some challenging times ahead.

Selsdon Residents' Association
14/05/2018 20:46:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Attended Selsdon Residents' Association - my first meeting with them since my election as the a councillor for Selsdon and Addington Village.  Received a warm welcome from the Committee and it was good to learn about the issues that are important to the members of the Association.  Look forward to working with them to support Selsdon high street, protect our parks and keep the area clean and green.

My thanks to the people of Selsdon and Addington Village
09/05/2018 09:06:00.......Posted by Robert Ward

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the voters of Selsdon and Addington Village for electing my colleague Helen Pollard and I to represent them on Croydon Council. We look forward to serving all the residents of this new ward and representing your interests in the wider context of our Borough.

We will be continuing the regular surgeries held by our predecessors at the same time and venue as before, 10:00 am to 11:15 am at the Selsdon Centre for the Retired next to Sainsburys. The first will be on Saturday June 2nd. Councillors for the neighbouring ward of Selsdon Vale and Forestdale will be holding their monthly surgeries at the same time and place.

Last but not least I would like to express my personal thanks to former councillor Dudley Mead who represented the old ward of Selsdon and Ballards for so many years with such distinction. His valuable advice means that I start with much greater knowledge than I would otherwise.

Addington Village
08/05/2018 21:35:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Attended a committee meeting for Addington Village Residents' Association.  It was good to meet the members of the committee and to discuss the issues in the area.  I picked up a  few things which I will follow up.

John Ruskin College
19/04/2018 21:23:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Attended a Quality Improvement Board meeting at the College to review the steps being taken to improve teaching and learning.  Some good progress is being made and I hope the students get the results they have worked so hard for in the summer.

Monks Hill Residents' Meeting
17/04/2018 21:19:00.......Posted by Helen Pollard

Attended a meeting of Monks Hill residents.  The meeting had been set up to allow all the candidates for the local election to explain how they would represent residents if elected.

It was good to return to Monks Hill as I had been the councillor for the area from 2006-2014.  They still need a new hall for St Francis Church and want more for young people to do.
