Richmond Pharmcology asked that I share this press release in connection with a visit I made earlier in the year with Croydon groups. Many residents will be surprised to hear of the innovative research and ground-breaking studies undertaken at Mayday.
"Innovative research was the centre of attention this week as the Mayor of Croydon, Yvette Hopley, toured Richmond Pharmacology’s facility ahead of a ground-breaking new study.
The Mayor toured the site that will host a world-class new trial into medicines to treat schizophrenia, the first month-long trial in Europe to take place in-house, beginning in May. It is hoped that this trial will pave the way for new medicines to treat people with the mental illness.
Mayor Yvette Hopley said “I am impressed that this exciting project is taking place in Croydon.”
She added “As a university hospital you would expect there to be a clinical research facility onsite. This is the sort of thing we want to be seeing here to bring development and investment into the local area.”
Richmond Pharmacology has helped develop new medicines to treat some of the biggest killers, including cancer, lung disease and diabetes in Croydon since 2005. It now attracts business from across the world and conducts 10% of all early phase 1 trials in the UK, one of the first key stages in developing a new medicine.
